Articulated-arm awning

Articulated-arm awnings are perfectly suitable to shade a terrace, to protect an outdoor shop space against sun and rain or also to make a street café visible from the distance. With the help of two articulated arms (with wide awnings also three or more) the drop out of the awning is moved and therefore the fabric is spanned horizontally respectively aslant over the area to be protected. A slight tilt angle enables the rain water to drain off so that dangerous water bags can be avoided.

This classical kind of awning is popular in the private as well the commercial field, because it can be variably operated, it creates and protects additional free spaces and embellishes the facade as well as the appearance of the street. Drop out widths of 2 to 3 m are no problem for the high-quality aluminium arms and awning constructions, with the help of special supports also widths up to 4 m are possible.

Since an articulated-arm awning can be quite vulnerable to wind it should be retracted when in case of strong winds or at least retracted in a way that the cloth and the construction are not damaged. For a better protection of the awning cloth articulated-arm awnings are also available as bushing awnings or cassette awnings. In the opening of the cassette brush stripes concurrently ensure the cleaning of the cloth and hinder insects, leaves or other dirt to be rolled in as well. The drop out finally closes the opening of the cassette so that the retracted awning cloth stays dry and clean also in winter and during storms.

For smaller articulated-arm awnings the traditional handling via crank is still offered. However, larger awnings are faster and safer operated with the motored version. (Gelenkarmmarkise, Terrasse, Markise, Fassade)
