Frame shapes of winter garden awningsWith the right size and shape winter garden awnings can be adapted to the most different glass surfaces and their frames. For that good planning and exact measuring is necessary so that the frame of the winter garden awning accurately fits into the frame of the glass construction. Both are firmly connected. In order to prevent that the awning cloth lies too close on the glass pane and to ensure that sufficient air can circulate between cloth and pane different strengths of frames as well as bar spacers are available, which can − with horizontal glass roofs − also realize the necessary tilt angle of the awning so that the rainwater can drain off. The control of the motor(s) can take place with the help of a kind of switchgear in the inside or at the touch of a button on a remote control. It goes without saying that an expert is necessary for the assembling of such a complex system as well as for the laying of the necessary electric cables. A minimum distance of about 10 cm between cloth and glass is recommended. Thus a sufficient air exchange is possible, the cloth can dry fast after a rain shower and when it is very hot the glass does not start sweating. The construction frame of a classical winter garden awning consists of the cassette as the upper boundary, where you can find cloth shaft and the operating mechanism of the awning, the directional control rails as sidewise border and the movable drop out as lower border. In the retracted condition the cassette comprises the cloth and can protect it during the winter months against dampness and dirtying. The drop out serves as the cassette seal here. In case several winter garden awnings are fixed next to each other in order to shadow huge areas the adjacent directional control rails can also be substituted by a guide rail with a double profile. The guide rails can then also run over arched or angled surfaces, for example if the sloping glass roof and the vertical side or front of the glazing are supposed to be seamlessly shadowed by an awning. Also special shapes like triangles or trapezoids can be shadowed precisely, whereas here the cloth shaft is of course positioned on the widest side of the frame. The narrower drop out is then moved by a pull rope and therefore may be positioned at every height. With irregular glass constructions, e.g. with many different glass surfaces in different heights or declination, you can choose winter garden awnings where the two guide rails can be variably indented below the awning cloth. They then do not serve as lateral border and in the extended state the winter garden awning resembles an articulated arm awning.
